Singapore is the second busiest port in the world. There are cruises of the harbor and surrounding islands, and a ferry leaves the World Trade Center for Sentosa every 15 minutes.

Main ports are Georgetown (Penang), Port Klang, (Kuala Lumpur,) Kota, Kinabalu, Lahad Dat, Sandakan, Tawau, Labuan Island, and Kuching.
Coastal ferries sail often between Penang and Butterworth, as well as a scheduled passenger service linking Port Kelang with both Sarawak and Sabah.
Small river boats are a practical means of getting around in East Malaysia, and are the only way to access some villages. River buses and taxis are plentiful.
